There is a McDermott & McGough show right now at Cheim and Read. The paintings are really intense (and the show poster is really incredible, it is like being able to take one of the works home with you).
Matt Leines has new work up at Clementine Gallery. I really like the paintings and am always amazed when I get to see his original works in person. There is a zine available of his drawings that I think is already worth more than they are selling it for ($6). There are only 200 of them, so get one soon.
Marcel Dzama's show is up for a couple more weeks at David Zwirner on 19th Street. The work looks great. There is a wide range of things in the exhibition, drawings, sculptures, films --that look terrific.
I hope you get to see these shows, and please keep me posted if there are any you really liked, so I can go see them.

Bill Thelen and I just made a book together. I was excited to make a book with him--Bill is one of my favorite artists. If you would like to buy one, they are $6. Send me an email if you are interested email@example.com

If I was better at things I would have taken this picture three seconds earlier. The arrow was pointing right at her temple!

I am putting together the second issue of RECOMMENDED magazine right now. I would still like to have a couple more recommendations for people (or things) that you feel are worth recommending. I will be accepting them through this Wednesday, March 12. The format is that of a regular recommendation, as if you were recommending them to a graduate school or for a job, but in this case, you are recommending them (or it) to the world/the readers of the magazine. Past recommendations have been for friends, musicians, maps, and dogs. Please email recommendations as word documents. If you have any questions please do not hesitate: firstname.lastname@example.org

There was a documentary made about one of my favorite artists, Gahan Wilson, that will hopefully soon be available on dvd. There are a lot of terrific shots of him drawing which is exciting to see. I hope that you have the chance to see it.
I was excited to hear that the artist Gary Panter, another one my favorites, is having a museum show that is opening this Sunday, March 9, 2008. It is at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Mr. Panter also has a book coming out soon from PictureBox which looks like it will be great. He is doing some talks (Chris Ware is introducing the talk in Chicago and Matt Groening is introducing the artist in Los Angeles) at spots across the country and in Mexico. Mr. Panter is working on a bunch of good stuff and I am excited to see it all.

The filmmakers at Standing Point Films have been working on some great projects. They have a film in this year's Ann Arbor Film Festival. Bill Plympton is one of the jurors for the festival!
