I think President Obama was in one of these cars?

And by "I think" I mean "I hope/I have no idea" They all just drove by my window and looked pretty serious. I drew all of them (they were going fast).

Update: I just went and asked one of the cops and he said, "NO!" I do not believe him.

Thank you to everyone who entered The Criterion Collection Button Pack Contest!

The contest is now complete. The correct films are:

1. Gimme Shelter
2. Days of Heaven
3. For All Mankind
4. Two-Lane Blacktop

If you answered Hopscotch, you would have been wrong, but we are now friends, because that movie is so good.

These button packs were made with The Criterion Collection for the ATP Festival this past weekend. Are you interested in receiving a pack of them in the mail? for free! All you need to do is be one of the first two (or three) people to tell me one of the films the images from the buttons was taken from (there were four plus the one with the Criterion C). Here are some clues:

1. Mick Jagger was wearing the one you cannot see on his shirt in one.
2. One was directed by Terrence Malick and the drawing is not a grasshopper but a locust, and the difference between those two is the length of their antenna, just kidding, I have no idea what the difference is between those two things.
3. One has Alan Shepard in it.
4. One is being driven by James Taylor in it.

Email entries (the film and your address) to

Gary Fogelson took this picture of me drawing people at the after party for the AIGA gala last night. The drawings were being projected on the ceiling as they were made.

Jack Pendarvis has a new regular column in Believer Magazine! You should go get the new issue because Jack Pendarvis is one of the greatest living writers. I did a drawing of an Apatosaurus shaped cloud for it! Right after I saw the new Believer Magazine in the book shop I saw a copy of Oxford American WITH JACK PENDARVIS' NAME ON THE COVER. Oh man.
