The art show yesterday was a lot of fun/a huge success. These are some pictures (there are descriptions below each one, this is what Derek does, on his website):

This is a piece for the art show called Tina sans Ike (avec Coke).

Derek is on the phone with the caterers.

This is the gum.

This is a painting by Derek at a store.

Jim Newberry is a good photographer.

There are a lot of exciting things at The Museum of Modern Art right now.

1. There are signed copies of the Phil Frost art book. This book was originally published in a very limited edition in 2004. This new (2007) edition is not as limited, luckily, and they are now available places. The copies at the Museum Bookstore are signed! Phil Frost has incredible handwriting and if you buy the signed one at the museum it is like buying the book (with 164 pieces of art in it) with an original piece of art on it!

2. There is an exhibit of art books that was a lot of fun to look at. THERE IS A TABLE OF Brian Belott BOOKS! right as you are nearing the end. He is one of my favorite artists, and I was excited to see this whole table of a bunch of his handmade books.

3. You will need to see the Design and the Elastic Mind at least fourteen times. It is coming down May 12, so get to it!

4. Take your time: Olafur Eliasson made me feel a little weird.

5. The drawing show Glossolalia has a lot of work by really good drawers.

Tory Wright has been making some really interesting pieces lately.

There is a show at apexart right now that is really good. It has work by Tucker Nichols and David Shrigley and Shel Silverstein and a lot of other outstanding artists.

They have four different hologram/sportsflix slurpee IRON MAN cups at 7eleven right now!
Gary Panter's show at Clementine Gallery is really good.

I painted on a bag for the Tote Bag show at Open Space in Beacon, New York that opens April 12. This is a small picture of it. It is titled: A Replica of My Bag. If you would like to see the other side of it, go to Beacon! (or email me and I can send you a picture).

April Gertler does a lot of good projects. I am enjoying number 5 in her me2u series right now.

Colin Matthes has a bunch of things going on in Milwaukee if you are near there. If not this is his website. Also, he just released a print on the Just Seeds website. It is a 3 color Silkscreen and looks terrific.

I have been making some drawings for Lump for this art fair in about 10 days in Chicago. I think the Lump drawings will be part of the exhibit, Info Expo, that is April 18 and 19. These are some of the drawings, arranged alphabetically, on my desk:

Tory is also making a mug tree!?!

The new issue of Wholphin (Number 5) is out! Everything I have watched is really great. My favorite so far is a film about solving Rubik's Cubes. It is called Piece by Piece and is directed by West Side Filmworks.
