Shawn Creeden has a lot of great stuff to see on his website.

Monday, December 8, 2008

There is a reception in 99 minutes for the Thrilla in Manila project Jane Mount and I were involved in (along with A LOT of you!). If you are around it would be great to see you there. Also, an edition (originals!) of the works will be available on the 20x200 website tomorrow. Proceeds benefit 826 New York!

Rich Jacobs, Jordin Isip and I made a book and it is available at Printed Matter right now! The book is numbered out of 20 and is $10.

Michael Worful just relaunched his website. I will write seventy three more posts about this in the next couple of days. Michael's photographs are near the top of my list (my list of everything there is!) If you look carefully you will see some collaborations we did together in 2002. Instead of looking carefully at those, you should look carefully at everything else.

Thursday, December 4, 2008

I made some new drawings of things at the American Museum of Natural History that were made available today on the 20x200 website. I hope that you like them.

Wednesday, December 3, 2008

Some great people stopped by (New Yorker cartoonists? Taco Bell Drawing Club members! Both!?!) to draw with Jane and me at the gallery today. Hope to see you soon! We will be there tomorrow through Saturday from 12-6, with the reception on Monday evening. There is a blog set up so you can be kept completely up to date on what is going on (drawing, pizza eating, my terrible posture, terrific surprise guests!)

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Starting tomorrow, December 3, 2008, Jane Mount and I (and hopefully at some point you) will be at Jen Bekman Gallery drawing. We will be there Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 12-6pm and then will return on Monday evening for a reception. The drawings that we(and you) do will either be available Monday night, the 8th from 6-8pm, at the reception for purchase (you will be able to take it right off the wall) or will go into an edition to be released on Tuesday to the 20x200 mailing list subscribers. The work will be sold to benefit 826NYC. Come draw with Jane and me. I think it will be fun.
Also, around the corner on Prince Street is jewelry by Maria Beaulieu at E.R. Butler & Co. The work looks terrific and is presented beautifully.

Monday, December 1, 2008

Amy Stein's new book is now available for pre-order on the photo-eye website. Her photographs are really good and this book is going to sell quickly (I am sure!). Amy also has a solo show coming up in Philadelphia at The Print Center.

Sunday, November 30, 2008

I have some work in Miami this coming week at the Aqua Hotel. It will be in room 123 with Glenn Horowitz Bookseller. I saw some of Adam Stennett's paintings that the gallery is bringing down and they are really terrific.

The Criterion Collection website was just relaunched! There is a video of my hands on there if you would like to watch. A bunch of new good stuff throughout the site. You can watch the movie Sweetie, right now!

Monday, November 24, 2008

DEREK ERDMAN! Seriously, Derek Erdman is at the top. Everyone should get over to that "art for sale" section of his website and buy up all of those paintings. It is the holiday season. THESE ARE THE BEST THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR MONEY. That is my opinion.

Monday, November 17, 2008

I got a Chocolate Pie Chart today! Let me tell you, Mary and Matt know what they are doing. This is the perfect Christmas, Hanukkah, Birthday, Wedding, Half Birthday, Monday, Sweet 16, July 4th present for a favorite person. Order yours today!

POINTS OF INTEREST

An exhibition of new work by Jason Polan.

Over the past several months I visited and drew pictures of things I liked in and around East Hampton, New York. These drawings were collected in a book titled POINTS OF INTEREST (East Hampton, NY). A lettered edition of the book has been produced that includes an original work, a POINT OF INTEREST hand painted sign(above), made to give the purchaser the opportunity to decide their own point of interest.

The opening of the exhibition will be a culmination of work made over these past several months in East Hampton and New York City along with work made within the gallery during a one week period leading up to the opening.

Opening Saturday November 15, 2008 from 6 to 8pm
Exhibition on view through January 5, 2009.

Ron Jude has a new book that was just released. He is one of my favorite photographers. There are signed copies of the book available at Printed Matter. Photo-Eye also has the book in stock. I think it should be at a bunch of places in the coming weeks.

Cory Arcangel has a show opening on November 14, 2008 at Team Gallery on Grand Street. He is doing a performance that night at the New Museum. I just found this out by watching the video on his website whoa.

I will be working on a project this weekend, October 30-November 2, 2008, at the Editions/Artists’ Books Fair. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I will be making drawings for a book called 100 People I Saw At The Editions/Artists’ Books Fair. The book will contain 99 people I saw during these three days. Once the drawings are completed I will print the book, in an edition of 100 to be available on Sunday at noon. The book will be available for purchase at the Esopus table (#59) at the fair. The book will cost $20. If you choose to purchase a book, you will be drawn in your copy, completing the project and becoming the 100th person in the book.

I will also be doing an Artists' Edition through Esopus to coincide with issue 11 of the magazine. More information will be available at the fair (or by visitng the Esopus website). Robert Therrien will be doing another one!

A limited number of books called POINTS OF INTEREST will also be available at the fair from Glenn Horowitz Bookseller. The work in the book will coincide with an exhibit I am having at the space in East Hampton opening November 15.

This shirt is now available on the McSweeney's site. When you buy one and put it on three things happen:

Your arms get stronger
You get a Charles Burns no face lady head
You win the lottery and make all the right decisions with the money

Get yours today! or tomorrow!

I just got a copy of the new Esopus. It looks terrific. There are 15 pages of people's favorite New York things (over 100!). The magazine should be on newstands in early November. There may be copies at the Editions/Artists' Books Fair the October 31st weekend. I will be there with Esopus making a book called 100 People I Saw at the Editions/Artists' Books Fair that will be available on Sunday at noon. A 20x200 Edition was released today. It is called 132 Birds at The American Museum of Natural History. For the edition of 200 you get a book with a little hand drawn bird on the cover. On the inside is 132 birds from the museum. For the medium edition you get the book with a 12"x16" drawing of a one of the birds(done with an ink/paint concoction that I have been drawing with) and for the largest one (limited to 2) you get the book along with a 29.5"x39.5" drawing of one of the birds. I hope that you enjoy the edition.

There is an art show at the Grotto Gallerie this Saturday, the 20th, that looks like fun. Shawn Creeden is one of the curators. I do not know anyone who can draw a better walrus than him.

Also, this Thursday is the opening to the inaugural exhibition from Melanie Flood Projects. Oh my!

Saturday, September 13, 2008

Mel Kadel has some drawings in Brooklyn right now. You can see them if you get there before October 5!

Travis Millard is also really good at drawing.

Leigh Ledare has a show at Rivington Arms right now on 2nd Street right near John Derian Company. Leigh is dealing with things that are intense and at times scary. The way he presents his work is incredible. The placement and attention to absolutely everything is worth seeing if you have a chance.

Lee Walton did a book signing at Strand Bookstore today.
